Biocontainment represents one of the fundamental pillars of the Foundation’s mission, encompassing procedures, technologies, and measures aimed at the isolation and transport of patients with potential infectious diseases of high transmissibility. The Foundation promotes advanced research activities to optimize high-level biocontainment operational procedures and to adopt new technological assets.
Biocontainment
Particular importance is given to collaboration with medical officers of the Air Force Medical Corps, with the aim of developing safe transport protocols (MEDEVAC/STRATEVAC) for potentially infected patients using fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. The main activities include:
✓ Monitoring and evaluating emerging technologies such as high-efficiency filtration systems, advanced physical barriers, and innovative decontamination and sanitation procedures;
✓ Studying methodologies for the safe transport of potentially infected patients, compliant with international and NATO standards, and suited to operational needs in complex scenarios;
✓ Developing specific operational plans for biocontainment in healthcare facilities and critical infrastructures.
